GOOOOAL!!!

Demand Studios Scam

How to Score with DSS Readers!

Holy cow!

How about them new Demand Studios workdesk? Pretty g-damned fancy, huh?

I love the little goal thing up there. The only problem is that I set it to a figure that I haven’t reached yet, and – hey, guess what? – according to DS, I’d already reached that goal.

Maybe they know something I don’t.

Anyway, to give credit where credit is due, THANK F**KING GOD they finally got rid of the rejection queue sitting there. It was some DSSer who coined the “Scarlet Letter of Dishonor” phrase and it fits quite well. That’ll actually probably result in a lot more contented writers.

Didn’t that bug the hell out of you when you logged in and saw those rejections staring at you in the face? Grrrrrrrrrr. And – of course – none of them were justified. (wink wink to our new buddies the CEs).

Anyway, let me be the first to say, GULP, thanks DS!

Of course, this is really going to be the new fun thing – let’s all go and visit the “Demand Goal Forums”. You think you’ve seen DS Zombies before? Oh my, just you wait.

Richard is still struggling with broken AC and ice packs on the modem. We’ll be moving the operation stateside again over the next few weeks, so hopefully the DSS forums won’t suck as much.

Actually, I like the goal feature since I need to write a certain amount of articles, I like having it all right there. Plus, you don’t have to click over to earnings to see what you made.

Can someone post where they’re talking about making $300 a day? I’d love to know how. But if they don’t get that research and “prep work” is part of the writing process, they’re crazier than I thought.

Like Track Changes, Goal is another feature I will never use, since its sole intent is to prod the zombies into even deeper obsession with DMS and to get them to engage in self-flagellation when they fail to produce enough crap to meet self-imposed quotas. Who needs that?

From a mind-game perspective, it’s brilliant. Without lifting a finger themselves, DMS now has an ongoing way to keep the zombies in perpetual motion, like hamsters on a wheel, as Bob said.

The UNINTENDED consequence is that DMS has shifted the focus even further from quality. Quantity, or “making the numbers,” is now the ONLY thing that matters. Having CEs will become even more irrelevant than it already is.

Sure it’s a “family like” environment! The Manson Family.

That new goal feature is a classic illustration of how I (and others) are hamsters on the wheel. It’s a depressing feature, in my opinion. Almost as bad as the work desk rejection counter. DMS desperately needs an occupational psychologist on board. The company’s attempt to get a “family-like” environment borders on insanity.

I like the goal feature, because it gives me an accurate count of how much of a slacker I can be.

jesus tap dancing christ. have you read the forum? there are people talking about doing $300 in a day. that’s like twenty fucking $15 articles. but i notice a lot of them talking about doing “prep work” the night before….which goes back to our other argument of what exactly constitutes “writing time”. i would be seriously hard pressed to do 10 in a day.

The only way I see to get to the General Forum now is through Resources.

It’s about time they listened to about a MILLION complaints and did away with the everlasting rejects.

The new Goals feature should be interesting, especially when the zombies pin all their hopes and dreams on a number and DMS launches more sneaky rate cuts and blow monetary goals all to shit unless you work twice as hard.

    Am I too cynical?

also, how the hell do you get to the forums now? I only see a link for the goal forums, not the general.

What’s even MORE fun is that mine set its own arbitrary goal. I can’t change it.
