Hey DSSers!
Well, that was quite a bit of controversial fun, wasn’t it?
Suffice to say, everything seems like it’s back to normal now.
Demand’s stock price is still in the toilet, and people who don’t know anything about computers are editing tech articles over at eHow.
The world is at peace again.
We don’t want to rag on anyone personally. Lawyers send threatening letters. That’s what they do.
We’ve got to wonder what they thought was going to happen, though.
This whole episode brought us more traffic than ever, including mentions in Forbes, Gawker, Boing Boing and Infoworld. In essence, Demand paid their legal team to give DSS free publicity.
This whole enterprise obviously wasn’t thought out very well.
We don’t know who dropped the ball over in Santa Monica, the legal department or the PR department, but, for a company that claims to be so on the ball with the media (It’s in their NAME for chrissake), somebody really f_cked up.
And I’ll bet you that whoever f_cked up, is probably making more than the equivalent of $16 for 450 words.
How can we get one of those jobs?

hey helena,
welcome. thanks for the comment.
we’re all making money off Demand Studios, which is why we’re here. By saying that certain things they do, “suck”, we also tell them how they can improve things.
would you like to make more than $16 for your articles?

Hi
I do not agree with you I do not think demand studios suck in actual fact they provide me with a small income.
Although I cannot rely on this income as it is only $15 an article I can still easily make $150 a week.
Which helps out alot since I am in a low income job at the moment.
Cheers
Helana

I’m not talking about spending your free time writing moar content for Demand, I’m talking about using what you already know and have already written to make money outside of Demand or similar webcrap content writing. Every How-to I’ve written for Tech Beta I’ve tweaked and put on my own mini tutorial site. Making extra money for work I already did, sure as hell beats sitting around and bitching about Demand.
As you were.

And you really think no one else has had this thought?

Times – It’s like this, not every moment of our lives is dedicated to writing for money. We use the forums as a way to let off steam and “hang” virtually with our coworkers, pretty much. We also give each other tips and support, just with vulgar language thrown in for extra lulz. How hard is that to understand?

Some of the writers who whinge on your forum all day long are sitting on a gold mine and they don’t even know it. Ah well, they want to spend their time penning 1000s of DSS posts, let em. Patrick and Richard have fostered a community of zombies of a different type, but zombies all the same.
