How to Make Investors Sad
Oh dear.
What is going on over at Demand Media?
Poor old Demand shares took a hit when they were downgraded by Morgan Stanley.
The once mighty high stock, which IPO’d at $17/share, later on rose to a high of $27/share in just a few month.
Now, here we are, just a little over a year later, and the stock sits at $6/share.
Three top executives left the company in the past few weeks and the earnings call for Q4 2011 is just around the corner.
My oh my.
The sad part about this is [...]

How to Toss One's Salad
Hey kids,
Just got this in the mailbox from old time DSSer DMS IPO.
Got something to say? Why not drop us a line?
Well, it’s been two years since eHow announced it was improving quality by identifying and elevating 50 Demand Studios writers to “eHow Premium Homepage Writers.”
http://www.demandstudios.com/blog/announcing-ehow-premium-homepage-writers
So, how did they do?
Of the five articles listed as examples in the announcement, only one remains. Evidently, these “premium” writers couldn’t produce articles that were “evergreen” for even two years.

How to Prepare for an Empty Queue
Hey there DSSers,
Once again I could offer lame excuses about my absence from the front pages of this here blog, but I won’t bore you with the details.
Let’s just say it involved copious amounts of drugs, women of dubious stature and a thesaurus.
Looks like there’s been quite a shakeup since I’ve been gone. The bell has finally rung and the Zombies are beginning to see the light.
This after nearly a year and a half of us saying, “I told you so!!!”
The funniest part is that now they’re flocking over here to tell their sob [...]
Richard Rosenblatt of Demand Media sweats Ben Bernanke on Twitter. SeoBook’s Aaron Wall delivers an in-depth and engrossing encapsulation of corporate content farming. Time to prove his capabilities as a corporate scion. [...]
Analysts of DMD have been wrong so far, but Barclays latest target of $11 agrees with DSS Richard Head. Richard examines the lingering effects of Panda on Demand Media and other content mills and discusses the history of his own analysis of DMD shares. [...]
By Patrick ~ Sep 12, 2011 Has Demand Media studios been ripping off writers systematically on their offers for buyout of rights to written content on eHow or were the offers lowball? A friend of mine says he didn’t get what he bargained for, and Demand tells him to take a hike. They can produce no contract nor documentation. [...]

How Not to Suck
Hey DSSers,
P-duffy here. Hope your Memorial Day was great and you drank a lot of beer. More importantly, I hope you were cranking out the articles for Demand’s Holiday Funtimes Great Club!
This just came in, don’t know how many of you kids are with Bright Hub, but this is interesting news. Bright Hub got hit just as bad as everyone else with the recent Panda changes, but instead of sitting around and bitching (I’m looking at you, Suite101), they’re doing something about it.
They’re RAISING [...]

How to Be Giff Head
Associated Content snatch is the best. But it can sometimes be hard or intimidating to meet AC babes. They can also be quite elusive, as they spend most of their time either writing content or spreading venereal disease. When you do happen to meet one, it’s sometimes difficult to know exactly what to do to get her to do some revenue sharing. But don’t worry, there are a few simple tricks you can try to get an Associated Content chick to put out.
1. Scope out places that Associated Content hos like to hang. This could be the [...]
