Demanding to be Saved

How to Go Down With the Ship

Howdy everyone!

Sorry been so quiet. Decided to take this time off to take some holidays. Figured now would be a good time since the Demand queue is totally dried up during the eHow “renovation.”

Got this post in the mail from DSSer N. He raises some good points, so I’d thought I’d share it with everyone.

Got an idea for a story? A juicy tidbit?

Be sure to drop us a line!

Saving Demand

If Demand Media shareholders want to see if Sean Colo is serious about turning around the company’s flagship eHow website, there are a couple of quick […]

South of the Border

How to Go Down With the Ship

This email appeared in the mailbag from one of our amigos/amigas south of the border, so I thought I’d pass it along.

Also feel free to rant over in the forums if it helps you feel any better.

I have been working for Demand Studios for about 8 months now. I reside in Mexico and came across the site while looking for translation Jobs online.

Of course, the site doesn’t feature as many options for people liveing outside of the states but I figures I’d give it a try. I got hired and started working on a pay rate […]

Ask The Editor…But He May Not Answer

How to Go Down With the Ship

Hey there DSSers,

Just catching up on some mail here. Thanks for all the tips. The Demand Queues are looking just as sad as ever.

I just saw this from today’s “Ask the Editor” with Richard Lally. Either they still have no idea how they’re approaching the eHow renovation or they’re lying and saying they don’t. This enforces my suspicion that they closed down certain sections and drastically cut available titles in others because they’re out of money and clients.

Hi Richard. What’s the process for the eHow overhaul? Is it audit by reviewers, then evaluations title by title, […]

The Ship Continues to Sink

How to Go Down With the Ship

Hey DSSers – thanks for all the emails. They’re almost coming in too fast for us to publish! Here’s another update we got today.

In reference to your post about another late DS pay day, here’s a thread you might find interesting. The contributors at DS are getting desperate. And strange. One perpetually upbeat community moderator started a forum on ways to make “quick money” in light of DS’s failure to pay on time. It’s really sad that the economy is so bad that people are resorting to selling their clothes, books and other personable valuables. But this conversation string […]

DMS Payments Late Again

How to Go Down With the Ship

(Thanks to DSSer LB for this on the spot report!)

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the payment scheduled for Friday 3/14 will be delayed until Monday, 3/17. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the members of the DMS community.”

Some were rightfully pissed off:

“Yanoo, this would be believable if payments hadn’t been getting later and later recently. AND they are all but shutting down the writing part of the company and the stock is in the toilet. Now, “due to technical difficulties” payment is delayed till Monday? I was in the accounting field many moons ago but for long […]

Never Seen This in 5 Years

How to Suck

Absolutely nothing in the queue. Sad.
