Demand Studios Review – More Freelance Jobs

How to Make Friends While Freelancing Online

We are not alone.

Actually, the webmaster of this site dropped us a line a few weeks ago and I have been remiss in not mentioning it until now.

Demand Studios Review is a website dedicated to….well, I think you can figure out by the title.

Basically it’s like DSS, but much less negative. It’s filled with helpful articles about writing for Demand, and there’s a pretty good lineup of other content mills where you can make money doing freelance work online, some of which I’d [...]

The Future of DSS

Demand Studios Sucks members would like us to share more thoughts about the other content mills, where to get paid to write, and tools to better accomplish the goal of writing online. [...]

Sweet 101 – Demand Zombie Town

How to think you are Richard Head

Okay.

So this was passed on to a little bird from me. Maybe it was Richard (as he would like to be pictured to the left there). I don’t know. And I’m not saying.

Go sign up at Suite 101. You have to write an entry essay. Yes, it’s retarded. Just do it.

Once your essay is approved, you’re a Suite 101 writer.

Here’s the fun part.

You know those articles that some dumbass CE gave you rewrites on at Demand ? You know, the ones you were about to get rid of because you weren’t about to [...]

How to Write a Bunch of Crappy Articles

Hey DSSers!

Hope you’ve been properly motivated now by the new Demand forums!

I have heard from Richard. Apparently his air conditioner broke down. They’ve been having to keep an ice pack on the IBM/360 that he uses for his terminal sessions. So send Richard your thoughts. He’ll be back posting in no time.

I’ve been noticing an increasing number of duplicate content titles out there in the queue. A ridiculous number, actually. I guess this is all because of the eHow and eHow Home and Garden merger or whatever they did. Anyway, snap them up while you can [...]

The Demand Graveyard

How To Ressurect Your Dead Articles (aka "Zombify" them)

One of our commenters pointed this out and thought it might be interesting to see if anyone else had tried this.

Head over to Constant Content and sign up for an account.

Try taking one of your rejected Demand articles, clean it up and use it for your writing sample.

Then, once your approved, you can clean and upload all your rejected DS articles there and put ‘em up for sale.

Since they were rejected by Demand, they’ve got no claim on the articles and you can do with them what you will.

If you want, [...]

How Long For Articles?

How To Vote at eHow

Saw this discussion in the forums and through it was interesting. DSSer Hancock posted this…

I write 10 articles in 2 hours Monday through Friday. I am writing 15-20 a day now. On a good day, I am through with everything in 5-6 hours (editing, submitting, and writing process).

DIZZZAM!!!

Ten articles in 2 hours? That’s like 12 minutes per article.

How is that possible? I’ve been doing this for two years and I’m still not up to that speed. And I don’t proofread or go back over my articles before sending them on. And I claim [...]

CE Boilerplate Guides

How To Be Steam Punk

Again, my sources will remain nameless on this.

Actually got this from a couple of different people.

My only point is why don’t the writers get to see this too? Wouldn’t it be just as beneficial?

Demand Studios, like any business (count us in on that), is about making money. The more articles that Demand produces with the least amount of friction will make them the most money. If you tell CEs one thing, and not the writers, then you’re just adding an extra step in there.

I dunno. Like I said, it ain’t the Pentagon Papers.

Real life still continues to [...]

Tip – Lazarus!

How To Attend a Demand Studios Conference

Hey DSSers,

Wanted to take a break from talking about the Bacchanalia that was the Demand Studios conference in LA to get back to some tips here.

And boy is this one a doozy.

This was submitted by one of our new readers over in the forum. You haven’t been to the forum yet?

What the hell is taking you so long? It’s free! Get over there.

Now, the tip.

Dammit!! Where was this 5,000 words ago when I kept losing articles? The first thing you gotta do to use this tip is start [...]

Tip – Grabbin’ Titles

How to Be A Demand Titler

Way back many moons ago when I started at Demand, I remember there being a strict rule against grabbing too many of the same title.

And, being the diligent DS writer that I was, I stayed away from multiple titles.

Then I slowly began grabbing more and more of them. It’s like the forbidden fruit – when you’ve got 8,000 variations on How to Toss Salad, it’s really hard to resist.

That, to me, really seems to be the only way to make fast, consistent money with Demand is just rewriting the same article over and over and OVER again.

Most [...]
