Making Money Online With Demand: Revenue Share

How To Dress Like Richard

Hey kids!

Well, it looks like the painful period of our adolesence is over (see Richard, left) and we’re finally all grown up now.

How are things working out? Good? Any glitches?

I need to apologize for not getting to emails quicker. Richard tends to be a bit of a stickler when it comes to security. Especially when we’re dealing with “zombie processes” and “ghost trackers”, so he makes me keep my beams from crossing when checking email.

Now that DSS is being hosted back here in the good old USA, I wanted to get back to business.

My [...]

A Change We Endorse

Demand Studios rolls out a freelance writer-friendly change to their writer Work Desk that allows writers to save searches on their site. It is now even easier to earn money online as a freelance writer with Demand Studios, who sucks a bit less now with these changes. [...]

How to Take Candy From a Baby

Hey kids,

Sorry I’ve been out of the loop. I wanted to see if little Dickie can stand on his own two DSS feet. Looks like he’s doing the job remarkably.

Behind the scenes we’re still working on our transfer to a halfway decent hosting provider, so bear with us while we work that out.

Just wanted to touch on a little something here. It was almost sad reading those goals forums over at the DS site. What with everyone talking about their problems and how DS is helping them out and they’re the greatest employer ever, blah, blah, blah….

Demand Studios Sucks Motivation!

How to Motivate Your Employees Pre IPO

Well, it just keeps getting more and more surreal.

Just noticed this on Demand. Actually, it’s hard NOT to notice it because they put it in one of those stupid “click here or this will never go away” boxes at the top of the screen.

Take it away, Demand!

Hello and welcome!

I am thrilled to present you with this brand new forum we are calling: Demand Motivation.

We were inspired to create this forum based on activity we’ve witnessed in the general forums recently. We are excited to offer you a space dedicated to keeping yourself, and others, inspired [...]

The Demand Graveyard

How To Ressurect Your Dead Articles (aka "Zombify" them)

One of our commenters pointed this out and thought it might be interesting to see if anyone else had tried this.

Head over to Constant Content and sign up for an account.

Try taking one of your rejected Demand articles, clean it up and use it for your writing sample.

Then, once your approved, you can clean and upload all your rejected DS articles there and put ‘em up for sale.

Since they were rejected by Demand, they’ve got no claim on the articles and you can do with them what you will.

If you want, [...]

Start Spreadin’ the Queue

How To Queue For Your Paypal Check

DSSer Ken had a really handy tip yesterday on avoiding rewrites…

If the CEs are dropping articles in “batches” of say 20 at a time, and you submit 10 articles in 15 minutes..chances are all 10 articles are queueing up to the same CE. Drop an article every 30 minutes and hundreds of other articles are between each one of yours, you will not run into that problem.

So simple that it’s genius!

That’s actually what triggered my first rant two years ago. I could tell – just by the [...]

Theoretical Question

How To Copy Edit for DS

I just bought a Blu Ray player with some DS scratch.

Pretty awesome.

We don’t even have a HD tv! But it hooks up to the Internets.

Me & Mrs. DSS have been rocking out to some 80s MTV videos and Beavis & Butthead.

So lately I’ve been hearing of friends who are getting attacked by the CE’s. In most of the cases, my friends have decided that the rewrites aren’t worth it so they just abandon them.

Now, here’s the question part – what happens to the articles? Do they get resampled back into [...]

How To Be A Newspaper (Or How To Eventually Get Tired of Trying to Come Up With Clever Captions)

Hey DSSers!

Hope your weekend is a great one.

A helpful reader dropped me this story from the Los Angeles Times about working for Demand Studios.

Here’s a little bit:

Welcome to the infuriating brilliance of the DS model, which succeeds precisely because it is a tangle of gray contradiction rather than the black-and-white operation its detractors claim to see. DS contributors and editors are at once faceless output devices and emotional human beings, evidence that the more we’re treated like [...]

PBS – Debate: Does Demand Studios Suck?

How To IPO And Not Give Any Of It Away Even To The DS Forum Zombies

Ok. So that’s not exactly what they’re were talking about, but it’s a pretty interesting article on content farms.

I thought this line was pretty interesting: “CEO Richard Rosenblatt won’t call the 10,000 people who produce content for Demand Studios journalists

I sure wouldn’t call myself a journalist, either.

I’d be more along the lines of “Someone Grabbing The Money While It’s Coming And Running”.

Just last week I found like 4 articles along the same line in the old Livestrong queue.

Every time I think that [...]
