Top 5 Current TV Shows

Just like the title says!

Top 5 Current TV Shows

Postby IloveCEs » Thu Oct 13, 2011 3:19 am

I'm officially bored, so I thought I might start a new TV-related thread.

The question is simple:

What are your Top 5, currently airing TV shows? I said "currently airing," so no "Game of Thrones" or "Seinfeld" pleaaaaase. (For "Seinfeld," syndication doesn't count. DUH).

Anyway, here's mine:

1. Homeland (Showtime)
2. Parks and Recreation (NBC)
3. Modern Family (ABC)
4. Survivor (CBS)
5. The Amazing Race (CBS)

New shows that I thoroughly dislike:

- New Girl (Ugh)
- Terra Nova (UGHHHHH)

And I'm still unsure about Person of Interest (CBS). Great potential but slightly boring at the moment.

Fringe
Big Bang Theory
Phineas and Ferb
Property Brothers
Top Chef Just Desserts

Most of my favorite shows aren't airing new episodes right now so I end up watching cartoons and HGTV.

1. Boardwalk Empire
2. Modern Family
3. Bored to Death
4. Survivor (even though I said I'd never watch again after last season...)
5. The Office

I tried to watch Pan Am to get over my Mad Men withdrawal. It was the dumbest fucking shit I've ever tried to sit through, nothing but a cheap, poorly acted facsimile. I should be smacked for even thinking it could compare.

I watched the first episode of the new Dexter season. But I can't bring myself to care about their bullshit story anymore because I know it's just going to get resolved in some unrealistic, completely clean way every season finale. They've abused my suspension of disbelief one too many times. I do miss Deb, though. I might watch just for her.

Ever since Jeffy Probst became executive producer over Mark Burnett, the show has declined in quality. It's become an excuse for him to hand his man-crushes a million dollars. At least (maybe) we won't have to see Boston Slob anymore. Unless rumors are true and he becomes the next host.

BE is slow and relies too heavily on graphic sex and violence when the acting and story could stand on their own without gratuitous shock value. But it's lush, intricate, and of a higher quality than most anything on TV right now. I am really into this season. I like slow burners.

1. Breaking Bad - always flawless, gets even better every episode.
2. Homeland
3. Criminal Minds
4. Revenge
5. Ringer (Pilot was a disaster but it has turned into must-see TV for me since then)

I also really like 2 Broke Girls as a total guilty pleasure.

Edit: BB still counts imo because it just finished this week

The only TV show I'm watching right now is House. I didn't start watching it until a couple weeks ago, but now I'm hooked.

Normally I watch some anime, but this season's sucks balls for the most part. Unless you're into cutesy girls in school uniforms doing absolutely nothing interesting, there's plenty of that. Fate/Zero is meh.

I always, always watch the Daily Show, though. Too bad it's always on break, WTF? I'm going through withdrawals.

I meant to watch American Horror Story. I'll have to give it a look. I forgot all about Criminal Minds. Haven't watched it yet this season, so I'd better go set the DVR now.

I also hadn't realized the new season of Psych started last night gahhhh! Love the goofiness of that show. I started watching online but I think I'll just wait until it's on again Saturday and catch it in HD on the big screen.
