allow writers to write!

Got a suggestion for Demand Studios? Let's make their Zombies come over here for suggestions...

allow writers to write!

Yes, you've said these things many times. If I wanted to improve Demand Studios (and really, now that I have walked away and sold other work the very next day), I would let writers with experience in certain topics have more flexibility. I'd let them express a personality and a voice. I would also not allow CEs to run rough shod over writers. It's very obvious to me that some of these people look for the work of a certain writer, especially when that writer has overturned an objection! That happened to me. Though I wasn't allowed to know the person's name, she or he always started messages the same way.

I met a couple of smart CEs along the way and thanked them for making my articles better. Without knowledge of how many people edited my work during the time I worked for them, I can't say what percentage of CEs made a good impression.

A question: has any one of you ever felt penalized when you asked for an upgrade? I asked for access to better gigs and that's when my problems started!

Penalized in so far as I'm fairly sure there's one specific grade-A bitch of a CE (I call her Vinegar Tits) constantly on my case after I called her out on a couple of absurd rewrite requests and refused to make her changes. It's impossible to be 100 percent certain, of course, but I'm fairly sure it's the same person from her distinctive writing style.

I feel your pain. Seems like there are many "rogue" CEs.

If Demand are ever to let writers to write, they need to hire writers in the first place. At the moment, they seem to hire an odd mix of underpaid people who can write and overpaid people who can't.

I am truly hoping that with the upcoming segmentation that they will allow the "specialist" writers more freedom. When people read the crap on Ehow, it sounds like a robot speaking to am infant. Long and drawn out sentences explaining the inner-workings of the screwdriver/screw relationship.

Other times Ehow reads as if you can build a nuclear reactor in 4 steps (see 7K per month douche). They need to open several segmented sites that appeal not to the masses, but people with a basic grasp on the subject at hand, but need a guide. This way we can be more open and even a little humorous with the readers. This would greatly improve DMS's view in the public eye and maybe wash the Ehow stink off a little.

Of course keep Ehow for the general writer pool and allow them more freedom as well. Use it as more of a "minor league" type system where writers can learn a specialty or increase their writing skill to be able to use a preexisting specialty on one of the segmented sites.

I know his will never happen, but we can all wish, right?
I am really not a dick... I just play one on DSS.
